Rose has a lot of funny little habits. The main one I’ve noticed lately is that when she’s breastfeeding she sweeps her arm around looking for stuff to grab. She usually finds handfuls of my hair. She also grabs necklaces (before I stopped wearing them), and folds of fabric. When her hand finds purchase, she YANKS really hard. Ouchy, to say the least. Consequently I have all these little scratch marks around my neck and décolletage (sorry to be such a know-it-all wordie. Would you believe me when I said that was the first word that came to mind?). I’ve discovered that the only thing to do is to give her something to hold. So mostly I give her a finger to clutch. Yet another moment in motherhood that makes me feel entirely foolish.
I think I’ve also mentioned in the past that she has a funny little cough. The thing is, the cough comes and goes. Some days she coughs a lot. Some days she doesn’t. I wonder what she gets from it?
Another new funny little habit is that she likes to bite down with her toothless gums on the spoon when you’re feeding her. You keep having to yank the spoon out of her mouth. Does she think that the spoon is part of her meal?
