Laura recently said that it’s starting to sound, rather than look, a lot like Christmas, because it doesn’t get too cold in San Francisco. Well here in Sydney it’s not looking a whole lot like Christmas either. It’s hot and humid, and because it doesn’t get dark until 9pm you don’t get to see many festive lights. We are, however, doing our best to make it a memorable first Christmas for Rose. (Now that I think about it, she won’t really remember anything until she’s at least four years old, so it’s really all for us. And for the documentary evidence.) We have the Christmas Tree up, presents are starting to accumulate under the tree, and we have festive decals on the windows.
We also took her on the weekend to get her photo taken with Santa. She was a bit bewildered about the whole experience (you call tell from her expression), but he was a lovely Santa. I felt so sorry for him dressed up in all the Santa getup when it’s so hot. He was so cheerful and nice throughout the whole thing. If you look closely you will see that Rose is wearing a reindeer bib.
