We don’t have anything figured out

On Monday I started writing a post about how we’d managed to get Tess into more of a routine lately, with her taking a longer nap in the afternoon and a few shorter naps “on the go” in the morning. I was going to say that we’d managed to get her to bed at a decent time in the evening, and Chris and I had enjoyed some precious hours in each others’ company. It was a portent of a more manageable life.

That lasted until about Tuesday, when we all got sick with a cold. Tess’s sleep has gone out the window, we’ve all been dosing up on paracetamol, and last night Tess has a highish temperature of 38.5 and woke every few hours, so we’re thinking about trying to get to see the doctor today.

That definitely seems to be what family life is like. Just when you think you’ve got things figured out something blindsides you!

But we have also had some fun. We went to a new playgroup on Tuesday and met some nice people, and on Wednesday I got to meet the newest edition to my mothers group – Thomas Cranmer, born to Jody. He was born 6 weeks premie and is so little! But the good news is that he has finally come home from hosptial. I also don’t think I mentioned that last weekend was particularly good with a few visits from friends and a super fun trip to the Australian Museum with Rose’s best friend Percy. Rose got to see lots of skeletons and her and Percy ran around holding hands.
